Abstract

A group of 12 amateur alpinists have been tested for mental performance at 4560 m and two months later at sea level. No impairment was detected for the concentration-attention test and the subtraction test. Only for the short-term verbal recall test a statistical significant difference between high altitude and sea level was ascertained.
