Abstract

A total of 78 correctional inmates were surveyed anonymously on their views about the purpose and use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) when it is administered as part of a correctional intake evaluation. Most of the inmates had a relatively realistic view about the MMPI-2's purpose and use. A substantial percentage of the inmates admitted intentionally distorting their self-presentation. Implications of these findings for the MMPI-2's use in corrections are discussed.
