Abstract |
Fall is a time to enjoy the change of seasons and within the specialty of child and adolescent mental health, one cannot help but reflect on how the changes in our society and world have continued to impact families with children and adolescents. Notwithstanding, many of these changes also impact advanced practice mental health nurses (APRNs) who practice in child and adolescent psychiatric mental health nursing. For those International Psychiatric Nurses Association (ISPN) members dedicated to the mental health of this population, uncertainty has prevailed as the role of the child and adolescent psychiatric mental health clinical nurse specialist (PMHCNS) seems to have disappeared before our very eyes. ACAPN in collaboration with the ISPN Board of Directors have designed two methods of actively participating in the discussion and staying in touch with colleagues. The media is inundated with the mental health concerns affecting children and teens nationally and internationally. Psychiatric mental health nurses and nurse practitioners are the ideal candidates to address these issues and can be available for comment. Examples of topics include suicide; violence and abuse; human trafficking; prescription drug abuse; obesity; bullying; and cyber bullying. Language: en |
