Abstract

The article presents updates concerning the International Association for the Study of Organized Crime (IASOC) as of September 2005. Shaun Woodward, minister and chairman of the Organised Crime Task Force (OCTF) of the Northern Ireland Office Security, has commented on the findings of a study into the attitudes and motivations of customers buying certified goods. The federal authorities in San Francisco, California have raided three medical marijuana dispensaries, and investigators have arrested 13 people as part of an alleged organized crime operation using clubs as a front to launder money. The Greek Police crime analysis unit have released an annual report regarding illegal immigrants that have organised crime groups engaging in human trafficking. The Spanish police have arrested several mafia bosses from former Soviet republics. Mob leader Joseph C. Massino has pleaded guilty to ordering the killing of one of his underlings in 1999 and was sentenced to two consecutive life imprisonment.
