Abstract

The healthcare teams that are the first to reach the crime scene perform emergency intervention on the victim or perpetrator on the crime scene. And they have important impacts on the evidence, whether knowingly or unknowingly. This study aims to measure the level of knowledge possessed by emergency healthcare teams in some Istanbul ambulances with respect to crime-scene investigation, protection of evidence, and approaches to the crime scene. As a result of the study it was found that the members of staff employed to cover the pre-hospitalization stage did not have the desired level of knowledge in relation to crime-scene awareness, crime-scene investigation, and the collection and preservation of evidence.
