Abstract

Behavioral health services are often needed following a disaster. In rural areas, the most frequent disasters are those caused by weather events, two or which are described here by photo essay. In late May June, 2001, 69 tornadoes and 110 flash floods caused significant damage in 75 of Iowa's 99 counties. Following these disasters, the Iowa Department of Human Services contracted with AgriWellness, Inc. to manage a crisis counseling program.
