Abstract

This article discusses about how the author was working in a small rural medical center where she met and began to counsel a woman with many issues who felt quite alone and isolated. The woman was interested in becoming part of a "self-help group." The author realized that she was not alone; the author was counseling several women in the same community whom she believed would also benefit from belonging to a group. The rest of the article talks about the development of this successful self-help group.
