Abstract

Conventional fire protection practices are examined in the light of recent advances in fire science, and fallacies of the current fire protection philosophy are pointed out. Severity of compartment fires, mechanisms of fire spread, and pressure distribution in buildings are analyzed, the analysis being based on the literature review.
