Abstract

Data collected from Romanian students living in the Transylvanian region of Romania showed that the quality of friendship with Hungarian ethnics moderated the effects of cross-ethnic friendship quantity on attitudes towards this out-group. Although high-quality cross-ethnic friendships were very beneficial to out-group attitudes, low-quality cross-ethnic friendships were rather harmful.
