Abstract

A 6-wheel motorized wheelchair having good driving performance was designed following a comparison test using conventional motorized wheelchairs. Center drive wheel and front caster were connected by frame (I). Frame (II) had power steering in each rear wheel. The frames were connected by a link and suspension system. As the frames bent 10 degrees following the shape of the road, the 6W-proto was able to clear a 100 mm step.
