Abstract

The large number of suicides by farmers in various parts of the country is perhaps the most distressing phenomenon observed in India over the last decade. These suicides, which reached almost epidemic proportions in certain pockets of the country, were first picked up and reported by an alert press around the late 1990s. The public concern that these reports led to forced some of the state governments like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to set up enquiry commissions to go into this phenomenon in the respective states. Agriculture sector is a bone of Indian Economy therefore farmer's must have some protection but lack of protection and favourable policies to agriculture, lead to suicides of farmers at large On this background, in the present paper We have focused on the causes of farmer's suicide, nature of problem, Trends of farmers in India comparative framework of farmers suicide in various states of India and remedies to solve the problems of farmers. This paper is a modest attempt to fill that gap. Its basic objective is to put together, and carry out a preliminary analysis on, the secondary data that are available on farmers' suicides in the country.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:
1) To discusses causes of farmer suicide in India
2) To analyze Trends of Farmers suicide in India
3) To give the measures to solve the problems of farmers

RESEARCH METHEDOLOGY:

Data Collection: The present study aims to examine problems of farmer's suicide in India. The analysis is mainly based on secondary sources of the data. The Secondary data collected from the books, journals, Govt. publications Library and Internet etc. Scope: The present study relates to trends of farmers suicide in India ita problems and remedies to solve the problems of farmers. Hence, the overall components regarding to agriculture its problems are not considered and scope is restricted to farmer's suicide in India only...
