Abstract

There is currently a great demand for manpower in the mental health field and increasingly nonprofessionals are being trained to assist in counseling (Grosser, Henry, and Kelly, 1969). In crisis intervention, the nonprofessional is often preferred over the professional (McGee, 1972). The need is, therefore, apparent today for assistance in selecting which professionals might be suitable for training as counselors. (The majority of nonprofessionals are selected presently on the basis of interviews with professionals and the resulting clinical judgments.) A likely test for use in selecting counselors is the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (Myer, 1962)...
