Abstract

This study investigates the application of predictor variables identified by nine previous studies and by staff members of a family court and its psy chiatric clinic to clinical predictions of dangerousness. The records of 122 juveniles evaluated by the clinic during a six-month period were studied for the presence or absence of the variables. No significant relationships were found in comparisons among predictor variables, clinic recommen dations to the court, and subsequent dangerous behaviors. The author dis cusses the difficulties inherent in field research of this type and the signif icance of the findings for clinical practice.
