Abstract

By using FEM and Drop Weight Test, the effect installing a partition wall in the cross section of a thin-walled square tube on axial collapsing behavior was quantitatively clarified to ensure high crash energy absorption.Installing a partition wall into cross section of thin-walled square tube resulted in controlling out of plane displacement within cross section of one as high tensile strength sheet steel is used. As a result, a thin-walled square tube with high energy absorption was confirmed. In summarized, the guideline which can control the axial collapsing behavior about a thin-walled square tube by installing a partition wall was proposed.
