Abstract

It is well-known that the vehicle stiffness has great influences on the vehicle dynamic performance. However, it is difficult to measure the objective effect of it in the vehicle dynamic standard test and to design it quantitatively. In this paper, the objective indicator "steering correction" which is the closed loop dynamic test and has relation with the vehicle stiffness is defined. Two relationships between the vehicle stiffness and the steering response and between the steering response and the steering correction are clarified by the new idea and the driving simulator. By combining these results, the objective relationship between the steering correction and the vehicle stiffness is clarified. Finally, the proto car made by using these relations achieved the top level of this performance.
