Abstract

The effectiveness of presenting the auditory information regarding the approach to the intersection or the tree aroma just before crossing the intersections for increasing the driver's attention level to the oncoming vehicles was evaluated. In this study, the driver behavior regarding the gazing action to the oncoming vehicle was investigated using a driving simulator. Based on this driver behavior, a method for evaluating the reduction of driver's visual distraction using the auditory information or tree aroma was proposed by use of the Monte Carlo simulation based on integrated error of driver's error and environment error.
