Abstract

Evaluating active safety measure effectiveness using accident data, it is sometimes hard to estimate the scenario leading to accident. The effectiveness of Collision Mitigating Brake and Electronic Stability Control are quantitatively analyzed using Hiyari-Hatto (near-miss incident) data recorded by drive recorders equipped on taxies in three regions. Hiyari-Hatto data are collected only from taxies and contain different properties from accident data. This paper discusses the problems and the countermeasures in utilizing Hiyari-Hatto database.
