Abstract

This paper addresses the method of estimating hazardous routes by utilizing the near-miss incident data collected by probe-cars. To discriminate a near-miss incident from usual deceleration behavior, the discrimination method using jerk and maximum deceleration is proposed, through analyzing JSAE's database of near-miss incidents and data of intentional deceleration behaviors. The frequency rate of near-miss incidents data discriminated by the proposed method is compared with that of fatal accidents on each route of three high-accident intersections in Hiroshima city. Each rate of straight-ahead and left-turn routes has shown similar tendency, so the proposed method could be valid.
