Abstract

We have investigated the display conditions for drivers to notice the existence of human in infrared images. In practical use, resolution of infrared camera is more effective than conventional LCDs. It has shown around 6 pixels corresponding to human's face height on the photo-cells are the threshold level to know that existence, which is expressed in ppf (pixels per face height) here. It is also shown the part of the head or the upper part of the human body plays an important role to notice that existence. We used positive infrared images to avoid seasonal temperature difference in the experiment.
