Abstract

The purpose of this study is to consider an evaluating method of the direct field of view. The angle of the blind spot is one of the evaluating indexes of the direct field of view. However, it is not enough to evaluate the direct field of view with only the angle of the blind spot; the relative position of other traffic must also be considered. Therefore, a method was proposed for evaluating the direct field of view around the A pillar for right turns at different-scale intersections. For different scale intersections, it is possible to examine the relative position of other traffic like pedestrians in the direct field of view area by using this method.
