Abstract

A driver and a passenger of a compact car died with abdominal injuries in a head-on collision accident. They are supposed to be pressed by the seat belts because the front parts of the seats deformed downward in the accident. So we tested the strength of the seats of some passenger cars. The test revealed that the seats of the crashed car were obviously weaker than the others. We think the seats of passenger cars must have the sufficient strength to support the occupants strained by the seat belts who move forward by crash.
