Abstract

Existing steering control method is attributed to the mechanism developed in the 18th century and since then people have been compelled to adapt its rather awkward control rule. However, at the break of Steer-By-Wire era, it is considered to be meaningful for us to search for better control rules other than the existing. In this report, in order to develop more driver-friendly and higher-performance control rules, open loop steady state and dynamic response characteristics of several basic steering control rules ever proposed and clue to promising candidate are discussed from the unique standpoints with newly contrived means.
