Abstract

Word definitions and the theory of underground pipeline corrosion are presented. Various methods have been tried in an attempt to combat the affects of corrosion on ferrous metal pipe buried in the ground. Insulating coating supplemented by cathodic protection has proven to be the most economical and longest term positive corrosion control method developed.
