Abstract

Suicide or self destruction occurs through out the world. The rapid nature of death in hanging makes it one of the most popular method. A total 50 cases of hanging brought to the mortuary of NIMS Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur, for postmortem examination. They were studied during the period of Sep.2013 to Aug.2015. out of 50 hanging cases there were 35(70%) males, and 15(30%) females. The maximum number of cases were found in farmers 20(40%) followed by jobless 10(20%) and students 08(16%) each. Male dominance in society is because of stress, strain, alcohol addiction, break in love affairs, unemployment, failure in examination, loss of crops by natural disaster like flood, famine are the factors contributing to more number of cases of suicide. © 2017, Indian Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.
