Abstract

Suicidal behaviour patterns in adolescence are considered by some authors to be the expression of an acute psychotic episode within the contest of an evolutive breakdown. The gravity of the prognosis in these cases makes necessary careful observation and diagnosis which do not, therefore underestimate the act itself by reducing it simplistically to mere demonstration. To contribute to discriminating the gravity, the investigation conducted by means of the Rorschach test on a number of parameters (object relations, limitations and image of oneself) has been found to be of great value. Through a case series of adolescents and late adolescents who have attempted suicide, stress is laid on the gaps in serf-construction, often present in cases where the clinical situation was relatively lacking in significant data. A bordeline organisation seems to be present in many subjects who do not show clinical uniformity at the level of the clinical syndrome.
