Abstract

Analyzes 14 cases of suicides in prison custody occurred in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It highlights situational and personal factors identified in the events, as well as the judges' beliefs about the relationship between the state and the guarantee of the integrity of inmates. The results contribute to a better understanding of these events, as well as to research agendas on deaths in prison custody. © 2022 Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. All rights reserved.
