Abstract

This bibliography presents relevant readings from forty-one courses taught in fifteen graduate planning programs in the United States. Issues of race, gender, class, and ethnicity were a major theme in these courses, which were taught from the 1994-95 to the 1997-98 academic years. The readings are grouped into nine broad categories in this bibliography: community development and neighborhood planning; economic development planning and regional economics; environmental and natural resources planning; housing, real estate development, and zoning; international planning and development; physical planning, urban design, and historic preservation; planning theory, history, practice, and education; public policy and human services planning; and miscellaneous readings. The bibliography is by no means an exhaustive list of sources on these topics. It reflects the material that was employed by planning academicians primarily in the mid-1990s.
