Abstract

Economic, legal, and political/moral factors affecting the state of children's programming on television are reviewed, and their effects on the effort to encourage "pro-social" programming are considered. It is suggested that the leadership of child-care professionals is essential in the battle to reduce gratuitous violence, limit questionable advertising, and increase positive programming for children.
