Abstract

A 6-week-old male infant was admitted for near-miss SIDS documented in the hospital. The episodes were subsequently found to be factitious apnea that occurred as a result of the father suffocating the child. Apnea monitoring did not prevent, and in fact perpetrated the illusion of SIDS in this infant.
