Abstract

The timing of violence among psychiatric in-patients with reference to the time of day, day, month and season over a four-year period were studied. Most of the violence occurred in the daytime. There was no daily variation, but there were spring and summer peaks of violence. The implications of these findings on staffing are discussed.
