Abstract

This article is from an address given by the author to the 98th Session of the St. James Literary Society, on October 17, 1995. In the speech, Dr. Buckner summarizes the results of recent research regarding Canadian attitudes towards firearms and firearms control. The research suggests that much of the motivation for gun control may be hostility to the ownership of firearms, rather than a rational expectation that gun misuse will decrease.
