Abstract

The primary health care system must place emphasis on promoting early and comprehensive prenatal care, providing anticipatory guidance about injury prevention, ensuring adequate immunization, and monitoring growth and development to maximize the health of infants and young children. These priorities form the foundation of contemporary primary prevention for infants and young children.
