Abstract

The Minnesota Court of Appeals upheld a thirty-year prison sentence imposed on a rapist with AIDS. Following his arrest for a number of charges, Donald Perkins agreed to plead guilty to only one charge to shorten his sentence. The judge found the recommended sentence too lenient because the victim may become HIV-positive, which is the same as a death sentence.
