Abstract

Adult Day Programs have experienced phenomenal growth in the last 20 years. Accompanying this growth has been the emergence of a new generation of service providers and policy-makers. These professionals are in a position to make critical decisions about Adult Day Programs and require relevant, practical knowledge. This paper discusses the most salient topics on which professionals require further information. The topics explored include defining Adult Day Programs, programming activities, client characteristics, staffing qualifications, respite care and special programming.
