Abstract

A summary is presented of a report prepared by the Technical Committee 4A-15: Pedestrian Control at Signalized Intersections. The study procedure is described, and the survey results and observations are presented. It is recommended that uniform guidelines be established to enable traffic engineers to select the appropriate level of pedestrian control given the prevailing conditions. A national campaign should be undertaken via newspaper advertisements, etc., to educate the public about the meaning of pedestrian indications and how they operate.
