Abstract

This report by Technical Council Committee 4A-35 of the Institute of Transportation Engineers quotes and comments on portions of the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways" (MUTCD) that relate to pedestrians at signalized intersections. The committee was charged with developing practical principles and guidelines for safe effective treatment of pedestrians at signalized intersections for various commonly encountered physical and operational situations. A list of future considerations is included.
