Abstract

This article presents proposed specifications that cover a refloctorized pavement striping material of the type that is applied to the road surface in a molten state by screed/extrusion or spray means with a surface application of glass beads at a rate specified by the purchaser. Upon cooling to normal pavement temperature, the material produces an adherent reflectorized stripe of specified thickness and width capable of resisting deformation by traffic. The article covers classification of the material, repuirements of the thermoplastic mixture, application properties, packaging and markings, methods of sampling and testing, thermoplastic performance, and application characteristics.
