Abstract

This paper takes a broad look at the conditions contributing to the growth of the small car population and what effect it might have on the accident rate. It then looks at some of the attributes of the small car that could influence the accident rate and injury severity. There is also discussion on plans for a course of research that would be required to rate small cars and develop a safety index.
