Abstract

Anthropological study based on the consultation of files, interviews, and a compilation of the life stories of a sample of 35 men and women representing 50% of those imprisoned for homicide in Pachuca, the capital of the state of Hidalgo. The study explores gender differences in violent conduct, and documents various types of violence in addition to homicide. Testimonies are cited in extenso; a profile of the subjects included in the sample is given and the results of this study are compared with those obtained from a similar study undertaken in Mexico City on 400 men and 50 women sentenced for homicide.
