Abstract

This article reviews the literature surrounding possible limitations of the criminal justice system and the child protective services system in the treatment of children who have been sexually abused. In addition, suggestions as to ways the investigation and adjudication systems could be improved to better meet the needs of children are discussed. Finally, implications for practitioners are given to provide suggestions as to how they might support children and families who are going through this difficult and confusing process.
