Abstract

Between 1970-79 the department of forensic medicine at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School performed some 800 post mortem examinations on the victims of road traffic accidents occurring in North and West London. In 500 cases the blood alcohol of the victim was measured. The results of these measurements are presented and discussed with respect to the following five accident categories: vehicle drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, pedal cyclists and pedestrians.
