Abstract

The aim of this study was to discover the age group most at risk among injured and killed pedestrians, as well as to suggest a system of preventive health measures for these groups at risk. Pedestrians represent one of the risk groups of traffic participants in Yugoslavia. They are victims in 25% of accidents. Topographical analysis of pedestrian accidents shows that they take place principally in populated areas (84.5%) and during road crossing (68.09%). 15.5% of pedestrian accidents occur on the open road, in many cases when the pedestrian moves in an irregular manner.
