Abstract

Victims of domestic violence have increased contact with healthcare services, but may not always be identified as experiencing abuse. Guidelines advocate that healthcare professionals should inquire about abuse and receive training on how to respond appropriately to any disclosures. This article examines how improved identification and response to domestic violence by healthcare staff can improve care for patients.
