Abstract

The stakes involved in training trade unionists in ergonomie work analysis and the questions which this sort of action raises for trade unionists and ergonomists were debated on the basis of experiences which had sometimes lasted a very long time. Where this training exists, it is considered as one of the special form of cooperation between ergonomists and trade unionists; it is a 'tool' of collective action, aimed at protecting and/or promoting the health of workers. The trade union approach to questions of 'health at work' can be relatively extensive depending on the national or regional context and whether or not there is local support from legal and institutional systems which, themselves, are undergoing great change, partly due to trade union action and the development of scientific knowledge of the field. A few critical points -- to be studied together -- were raised concerning the circumstances, rules and conditions of trade unionists/ergonomists cooperation that is to be envisaged in order to 'change work' and its environment so that rapid work transformations, both present and future, can be taken into account.
