Abstract

In New Jersey, the statistics blare: over the past five years, the number of domestic violence victims grew 60 percent. Quietly, intuitively, you realize there are more. One study shows that domestic violence may account for as much as $1.8 billion in health care services annually in the U.S. But more important than the health care costs are the personal and long-term social ramifications of domestic violence.
