Abstract

The statistic study was done on two different groups: the first represented by cases reported to the Police, and the second comprised by cases reported to the Medico-Legal Service, Constanta. The conclusions are confirming a series of well known aspects, which are completed and supported by scientific data, and also present a series of novel results, that can represent a starting point for future, more thorough, research. Among conclusions we can underline the overwhelming majority of female victim compared to males, significantly increased number of middle aged victims and the fact that the aggressors' age is in the range of maximal biological availability age (26-40 years). We also think it is important to mention that this phenomenon is widely spread to all family income categories, involving all social categories. Among different forms of abuse against women, physical violence is the most frequent and with the most serious short and long term consequences.
