Abstract

Proctor, T.D., Harris, G.W. and Gray, M.I., 1989. New developments in the testing of anti-mist goggles. Journal of Occupational Accidents, 11: 111-120.Surveys in U.K. industry have shown that misting of lenses is one of the major reasons given by workers for not wearing protective goggles. The problem arises in many industries.A test method has been developed, based on an instrumented dummy head form, that enables goggles to be assessed for their ability to resist misting. This is currently being discussed for inclusion in British and European standards.Laboratory tests of various goggle designs have led to the development of an anti-mist goggle with superior performance. Some 200 prototypes have been assessed by industrial workers and proved successful.
