Abstract

How many presses are there in Finland? What is the age distribution of the presses and how high is the capacity factor? How much has the Finnish industry invested in press safety and what has been achieved? Are the safety improvements profitable to an enterprise? What is the safety level of presses?These questions were surveyed in a study into the effects of the press regulations concerning over one hundred Finnish enterprises. The research was carried out by the Occupational Safety Engineering Laboratory of the Technical Research Centre of Finland.
