Abstract

The value of two psychological theories of industrial accidents has been studied in a wire mill, an electric and electronic equipment plant and in an agricultural machinery works. The relationship between accidents and absenteeism was examined in two of the plants and absenteeism was found to be more frequent with employees who had sustained accidents in which they were themselves active, than with employees who had sustained accidents in which they were passive victims.A relationship was found between accidents and psychological stress, in the sense of worries about personal problems, in one of the two plants for which this factor was studied.
