Abstract

The initial protection of the homicide scene by the first investigators to arrive plays a vital part in allowing the accumulation of evidence that can lead to conviction. A given set of circumstances which comprises a given scene is never left wholly unchanged by the commission of a crime and/or the passage of the perpetrator to or from that scene.
